We're back......lols

hello sec3s, this is ur CPL ed speaking.
september hols coming to an end in a day or 2 , hope u guys haf finished ur hw! i, for one, am still struggling with my amath holiday bananas:D. time to buck up for EOYs, you won't like it when mr mok starts to sort out the failures among us and wad subjects did we fail. i'm gonna try and pay more attention to mr poh and hamdan during lessons and maybe scrape a B for my maths. haha yups.
as for the land expedition last saturday, if anyone has any opinions or thoughts abt it pls PLS!! tag at the tagboard. do ur part today in reviving this long lost blog of the sec3s of the fourteenth company of the boy's brigade of SINGAPORE!! haha kk tt was lame. personally i felt that alpha did ok for the expedition, albeit a little weak in their sense of direction and their overall fitness. isaacjonathanjingjie(lol)nicholasguanjie. gd job alpha.

It probably seems like years since this blog was touched. Even the taggings have stopped...and so are weijian's endless flow of suggestions and tags :D
I ain't sure if anyone's gonna read this, but there's going to be a parade either next Fri or Sat(ask bird), and it's gonna be run by us. The sec4s are gone, and it's up to us to bring up the company's standard. Is this exciting or wad? lol.

AQ'07, Posts, Handover...

Hey wassup people. Bin yrs since this blog was updated, so here I am, trying to revive at the request of our beloved M.I.D.G.E.T II, CPL MJ :) and also at the expense of my study time.
3 more days to AQ'07 already...this time it aint mock race no more. And that means no more walking, no more crapping, no more " wo shi "wood", wo shi "bridge", wo shi "men", wo shi "tal", wo shi "hos"..blah blah blah and no more slackings. It sucks, but do we really have a choice? :/ The rest of the company, pls cheer us on!
4 more weeks to the week we've been dreading and hoping for: TAKEOVER TIME/MID-YR EXAM.
Yups, in case most of you don't know, paper 1 is somewhere near our D-Day aka handover day. So don't get too carried away with what posts you're gonna get; remb to study too. And yeah, don't be too upset if you do not get the post you want or do not get any at all. Posts doesn't make you any bigger than you are right now; they're simply jobs or titles given to "qualified" people who have surpassed a certain criteria in a certain aspect. In other words, they are simply people with special roles and jobs assigned to 'em cos they're good in certain areas like leadership, adminstration jobs, blah blah...therefore those without their desired posts are as good as any of those who have been given posts,IF they are willing to strive to outdo the latter. Of coz, I dun mean that getting posts iz bad...it's a responsibility given to some of us by people who have faith in the abilities of that group of people..gotta make full use of it dudes:)
Yea just remb this shit on that day...it's true and I think this can prevent hard feelings in some of us, yeah? :) For now,lets juz do our bez for BB 14th regardless of posts.

Heya ppl, tis blog pretty dead so i decided to post some stuff to revive it temporarily.
Abt today's COS training, waddaya guys think abt it? Pretty tough? Mediocre? A bit irrelevant to what COS' are spposed to do?
Well personally, i feel its probably the moz "hiong" parade we have ever had with the sec4s helming the company. It won't end here definitely though; like SGT glenn said, it's gonna get tougher with every training. So, expect more from the trainings in future, and hope it's gonna be done the same way the sec4'06s did with the company, cos
today wasn't really as tough as the trainings we had a few years back. And yeah, i felt that this training was a bit irrelevant to the whole "COS" thingie. i reckon they should name it "Leadership Training Sessions" or "Company Leaders Training", yeah? :D Yeah well that's juz how i feel abt today's training. You guys can comment abt it in any way either by posting on this "zombified blog" or tagging
Juz to remind everyone, there'll be AQ trainig tomorrow as usual. Further details, go to the AQ blog or ask jinghan. Saturday's parade's bin changed to friday for ppl hu don't know. Parade order should be out by thurs or so, so check it out for further details. This is juz to remind u guys in advance. and yeah, pls dun tink i'm sucking up to anyone or anything by reminding u guys
abt the details, since i noe u guys are prone to thinking like that :/

sup guys, there are gonna be a few big events coming up, such as the ldc2 and anuual camp 2007.
first, the ldc 2. i know u guys want to go for this camp rite? ya so go there with full enthusiasm, although its not as fun as past years, dun lose hope. see ppl like me want to go also cant go. give it ur best and bring glory to bb14coy=D ok. then theres annual camp 2007. as bebe said we all will be given roles. theres big roles and small roles, of cos u all will want to take the big post rather than da small one, but people, wadeva u get make sure to make da best out of it. one chance onli.must treasure it. lets pull through this 4 days together!!
courses like heritage and naturalist are also coming up, we encourage you to participate in these events, as they can help to add to ur NE badge. course fees are 5 bucks and below for each course.
ok boys, there will also be a meeting afta school tomoro at concourse, bring at least 30 bucks to pay for the ldc2 and courses. all sec3 pls rmb to bring, or else u will get pumped, and im sure u all dun wan to pump in front of da other UGs

Yes, u all have heard Sergeant Destinyz

but think twice. Our Sergeant Destinyz is not fully to blame for cancelling the AQ training.

Basically there are two reasons that lead to the result of this

1. The lack of discipline.

Discipline, as one of the officers mentioned before, it is one of the pillars of The Boy's Brigade, the fundermental.
Okay,this blog is created for suggestions to improve BB & yes what we keep talking about, our goal, to revolutionize BB.
And in order to achieve our goals, what we need are Good Leaders.

What is leadership?

We( the future leaders of this company) skipped the training cause of tests?
Yes if u read the AQ blog, kahkee is right, we ALL are under the same circumstances,we hafto take tests and yes the school & even the offciers
emphasizes on getting good results , this leads to prioritizing and time management.

For ur info, our Sergeant Destinyz spoke to Mr Poh about today on our(sec3) behalf regarding this incident.
Mr Poh: Why must the boys study so last minute, why cant they study earlier

secondly, i would like to talk about our IMAGE as Seniors/Leaders.
Our image had been tarnished today, definitely. The reasons why the training was cancelled have been posted on the world wide web. juniors can easily access to it, what do you think is their opinion of ours now?
Its definitely not like seniors that we look up to, for eg, Tay Guo En, Jeremy Ang, Toh Cher han.
Therefore our image is very important and we should uphold and maybe bring it to greater extends.

How to improve/maintain on our image?

First and foremost,
Tucking in our shirts.
Okay i know, we all dont relli like tucking in, its such a hassle and it looks ugly.
Would u rather tuck in? or rather your mistake being pointed out by juniors? think.

Secondly, our attitude towards our seniors & during parade.

Okay, i do know we feel that the sec4 batch are doing a lousy job in leading us, we feel insecure when they lead us. We say things like OMG WHY IS IT SO DISORGANISED AND STUFF and this lead to a major downfall in our standard( the sec3 cohort's standard). Because we think they're no good, we show little respect for them unless we're being commanded.Our attitude changes and look, we become slack.
For eg during orientation, we thought the whole thing was disorganised and people like kenneth tham, playing with their handphones & slacking around.(Ps im not directing at you, im just giving at example. no offence)
Yes and why the hell is kahkee playin with water gun while traing those in Musical Drill. Okay , that is someth taht we should not learn, it portayed a very childish and unserious image of him and that is not what we want juniors to think of us.
Yes , thats where it began, our perception of seniors sucks and that inturn lowered the standard of our batch.
I got feedback from one of our seniors during the setting up of the BB booth .
The whole of bunch of us(BB 14th coy) looks very UGLY, as in disorganised.
some people doing work, some playing, some here some there, and people trying to escape from punishment. okay that showed how disorganised it was and we shuldn be worsening the situation but instead asking for instructions.
& this foul attitude towards seniors
reflected slack movements & attitude during parade.
when we're doing drills, why in the world are some of us , laughing & joking.
even the drills of the stage 2 are better than us stage 3? one more thing from what i observed, we treat punishments like jokes. Sometimes i see people laughing while running( i must admit, me included) and also the moment we completed our punishments we forget what we are punished for. We as future leaders must now know that we dont pump and forget, we pump to learn and amend to prevent us from committing mistakes.

Remember

Image is very important, coz we wont want our junior to go like, wah the sec3 batch so lousy. what we wish to attain at the end of the day is for our junior's perception of us to be like what we haf of guoen's batch. Who doesnt admit that they're dammit good?

2. The Lack of interest

hahah yes i know..or maybe.. We all know, BB is getting more & more boring.
of course who isn bored after doing practically the same thing weekly,for 3 years..

Interest ( The Work below isnt done by me, but i think its rather true)


The West focuses on setting objectives. Smaller objectives that in turn support larger objectives. Tactics and methods are then used to support the fulfillment of these objectives.

The Eastern (Chinese) framework focuses on process. Process which causes various affairs and events to occur. By focusing and analyzing the process, by directing the process, taking account of various situation influences, one will thereby achieve one’s objectives naturally without working towards it.
In ancient China, a man fell into a deep waterfall from which no one was known to survive without drowning.
Miraculously, he survived. When asked as to how he survived, he replied: “ The natural tendency is to struggle to swim immediately to the surface. That is why so many who had dropped into the waterfall had not survived. However, I did not struggle, but instead allowed the water currents to lead me, knowing that eventually it will bring me to the surface.

The story goes that from then on the man had a habit of dipping into waterfalls daily for 20 years without any danger.

Through the above analogy we can identify the difference between the East and the West. The Western method would be to swim upwards immediately to reach for fresh air. The Eastern framework would lie in assessing the process, and following the unobvious route, which was indeed the right route.
Application:

Sir William Alexander Smith has written the Object of the Boy’s Brigade in clearly defined terms. However, the method to achieve it may not be direct.

Punishing someone with the view to inculcating the value of discipline because he is not disciplined does not necessary translate into the relevant value being learnt (meaning one does not understand the process involved). By doing so, the good-willed officer/senior may be making a grave mistake instead, prompting the Boy to appear obedient and disciplined whenever he is in their sight. However, true understanding does not exist in their heart, and it is all but a matter of hypocrisy and facade.

Values will only be inculcated when those being disciplined truly respect the discipline administrator, seeing that there should be a good reason why he/she was being punished, thereby re-examining oneself for faults.

Values can come only through a pride that is held in one’s heart , in turn dependent on one having a beginning spark of interest in the BB way of life.
Interest is the most important aspect without which any organization will find itself in difficulty before long.

An organization survives on interest from its members

The process by which an organization fulfills its objectives:

Interest => Pride => Inculcation of Organizational values => Fulfillment of Organizational objectives

To conscientiously cultivate values, pride in being an organizational members, and single mindedly aim to achieve organizational objectives without regard for the basic process is bound to fail. This is akin to trying to scale a mountain when one has not even climbed a normal hill before!

Thereby recognize that if organizational objectives have not been achieved satisfactorily, it is usually/partly to a certain extent due to the basic groundwork/foundation not being established.

Interest

The most important reason why an organization survives is because of interest by its members in the organization. Without any interest, no matter how little or rudimentary, organizational members have no basic belonging in the organization.

Therefore we can say that the foundation of organizations exists in interest. Not anything else. Most utmost care should be taken to nurture interest for new organizational members

However, there was this X hotel which created a drastic change in management philosophy, creating a total customer management philosophy. Receptionists would remember every single guest personally and this extended down to their favourite food and habits, and even minor issues like their preferred room temperature. Take the following story which occurred:

A porter in X hotel suddenly disappeared one day. No one knew where he went. 3 days later, he came back and reported for work. When asked by his superior, he said that his absence was due to his chasing after a guest on motorbike to Kuala Lumpur from Singapore for 2 days and nights. The guest had forgotten his briefcase. Incidentally, the hotel guest happened to be in a rush for a major client meeting and his briefcase contained confidential documents and a huge sum of cash.

This hotel is the now renowned Ritz-Carlton, which succeeded in differentiating itself in becoming the “best hotel in the world” due to the change in its management philosophy. For employees of Ritz Carlton, the most important issue/ideal for them is a total interest in customer dedication. Not customer service.


Interest here refers to not just interest in the organizational lifestyle and activities. But also to the people culture. It can be any of this form. It can be a change initiated by culture.

Contemplate on it.

Interest, yes. we want everyone to be interested in bb that will lead to
Less people skipping parades and stuff.
For eg, when we're recruits, i thought that, wow drill is so cool and stuff, i like it alot and very much want to be cool like the seniors.
Interest will also ultimately affect what u are coz if ure interested in someth
u will definitely bring the best out of it.
for eg tham likes dota ALOT, thats how he is so good at it.

One last thing,
Lessons Learnt today regarding to the AQ incident.

I feel that cherng ru shouldn released us, as a leader, he should make good use of his authority and make us go for the training.

Another month is about to be over in 2 days' time. That means that we only have to endure 2 more months of torture before we can finally achieve our goal: to revolutionize BB.
And yeah, please root for our fellow corporal weijian and mr mok for tomorrow's show and tell assembly programme. We shall be expecting a wondrous performance made by them, including mr mok's grand march. :)

Log Room Part 2

hey, today bb was kinda tiring eh? and after the parade, those who are not duty squad still have to stay back do log duty? what the hell?

our fatigued and shagged boys forced to slave even after parades, as you can see there is a lot of white elephants here; many hands does not make less work

cherng ru giving out orders to clean the logroom, while our boys look on helplessly.
i think that every week, the squad that is supposed to do the squad duty should stay back. all levels of sec1,2,3 and 4 should be involved in this cleaning activity, so that people from other squad need not get involved. there should also be better allocation of duties, not everybody go inside the log room and do nothing

i think that we should also decorate our notice board. since it is so nicely drawn, why not stick a few photos of our boys on it? something like this cool dude here would do rite?

and about our notice board, we could stick this cool vinyl we saw the other day at bbhqshop, one of these days, a group of sec3s could go bbhq, buy uniform stuffs and things to deco the log room area with, make it look more homelike

Look at the picture of the BB logRoom.Doesnt it look dirty filthty and shitty?The seniors always tell us about standardization and keeping things tidy and neat.Does THAT look neat to you?I suggest that we should clean up the log room and throw away unessacary stuff(eg. the orange juice bottle on the shelf) and reorganise the log room before it gets even more and more messier.

Hm....about this poster pasted on the BB Log Room door....dont u think it looks retardedly stupid?I suggest we change the poster to something else such as the BB Logo etc...

BB ButtonHole Badge and MD Drill Song


To show the juniors that we are very enthu in BB,and also to gain their and the other CCAs' respect and the recruits' respect,and encourage recruits wear the buttonhole badge,we must all be a good example by wearing the BB buttonhole badge.If you have it,please feel free to wear it.however, if you have lost it or it is broken, pls approach CPL Keane or CPL Mingjun by the end of next week for orders as they are going down to HQ to buy some stuff.

Next, can every1 start giving suggestions for what song we will use for next years MD for orientation.Your VP sponge has suggested Huo Yuan Jia while Midget 2 has suggested Ditigal Love(Nokia song).If any of you feel that there are more songs out there to suit our next year's MD,please, feel free to approach us or post on the Tagboard below.

BB14coy logo

Hmm...dont you guys think this logo is abit bland and doesnt at all attract your attention?How, bout remodeling it for the bb14coy website?
hey..VP here, i noticed that BB fund-raiser is coming soon, and although i know you all dun like it, lets face it, bb fund raising sucks. yes it sucks but the money will be used in company events. like during annual camp, when mr mok buys food for us, $2 he can buy the chicken rice, but if everybody help to get more money in, mr mok can get better food for us,im sure you all dun wanna eat shitty food during a 4-day camp. the money earned can be used for other purposes as well, such as getting a company basketball and soccer ball, instead of troubling the boys to bring when there is games. during log duty, there is often nothing to do, if there is a ball around the boys can play with it. an idea would be not to print the company calender card shit, its dam ugly and cheapo, real waste of money.

Some Ideas On Improvment Of BB

I have 3 topics about the improvement of BB to mention today.

1st, CPL Luohan has requested that the company does a major stock up every half a year instead of have the Log SGTs go down every month to HQ to buy stuff.There are a few reasons for him to say so.The first is beacause he feels that the Log Sgt need not to go down to the BB HQ once a month to buy stuff for those who so irresponsibily lost his items.This would help the whoever is Log Sgt in that year as he would have more time for his studies and his social Life.I also feel that BB14 should stock up things such as BB Caps,belts,Cap Badge,Boots and other stuff such as haversashes and Lanyards in our Log room.Of course we cannot stock up things such as BB uniforms and BB pants as BB Boys come in all shapes and sizes.

My 2nd topic is on Black socks.I noticed quite a number of people wearing white socks with the full U in parades and hope to get away with it by keeping it hidden under their boots.Unfortunately for them,the BB Full U is black and white socks look very obvious in them.So i suggest that the company provide a pair socks for each and every one of the boys(we pay ourselves)so that we can standardize ourselves.

Another topic is about the Black Shorts the recruits wear.firstly i would like to propose some suggestions.1,increase the budget for the recruits to buy pants to go with their p.t. kit as the current pants are too lousy and feel uncomfortable,and worse of all,they are a bit translucent.2.have the recruits wear p.e. T-Shirts and pants on their training.As most parents buy 2to 3 p.e. shirts,recruits are able to wear them for their training as they only have p.e. once every week.Also,the recruits would not have to wear translucent and uncomfortable which makes them feel uncomfortable during training,which dissipates their attention span.Also, we would have the stanardization the comapny expects of the recruits.Later, when they have finished their POP,the recruits may wear their own knee length pants to go with their p.t. shirts.Here are some samples of our poor recruits' $3 horrendous pants

dun u guys agree that these pants that are a pure waste of money, and you cant blame the instructor for the choice of pants as the measly 3 buck budget is definitely not sufficient for a pair of acceptable quality pants. we could suggest to mr.mok to order pants from converse sportwear. as the school is linked with them, they would probably give us some subsidies and make the shorts affordable for every boy. at the same time, we could choose the design that we desire and not some ugly cheap shorts that we have no say in. this could also be our uniform for pt kits, im sure that since we chose the pants, we will have no objections wearing it. Unavoidably, all boys will probably have to fork up a few bucks for these pants, but it will be worth it in the long run. Ask yourself, if you had any pride, would you wear that piece of cloth up there or something that you had an opinion in?

Not a major event but it's best if we put on our best behaviour, as our attitude on that day will determine whether the recruits will behave likewise in future. Recruit instructors, remb to take more initiative like Guo En,Jeremy and Juan Jie(although I don't really have the right to say this)this Saturday as well as every recruit training, so that the recruits will learn to respect you guys. As for the CNY committee, buck up and do your best to create a wonderful CNY for us boys.

Fellow party members, I was sitting on the toilet bowl trying to force out waste matter when I thought of this. How about remaking our red polo tee? Change the material, cutting and design. I feel that our tee is one of the ugliest and most hideous pieces of clothing that I have ever seen. So, we are going to suggest to the officers the production of a new polo tee. Interested parties tag on the tagboard, all help will be appreciated in our first stand towards liberation.
